Kyle started on pole for his first heat race. At the drop of the green flag he jumped out to a good lead and never looked back. He won the first 10 lap heat of the night. In the second heat he started 7th. Kyle was the fastest kart on the track for the heat but had trouble passing the leaders and finished 4th. Kyle started 4th in the 15 kart field for the feature. On the start Kyle was able to work into the 3rd position and after running there for a of couple laps was able to pass the 2nd place kart on the outside. It took Kyle three laps to catch the leader and was setting him up for the pass comming out of turn 4 when he suffered an engine failure with 2 laps to go dropping Kyle from the race.After challenging for the lead he finished the race in 14th out of a 15 car field. Even though he had a bad finish Kyle was able to hold on to the 6th position in the points, 200 out of first. |

It was a good night for the Blackbird racing team. Kyle had another bad pill draw that started him on the tail of a 9 kart field. He was able to work his way up to 3rd before the checkered flag flew in the first heat. For the second heat he started on the pole and was able to hold that position for a few laps before finishing 2nd in the heat. The two good finishes set him up for outside pole starting position in the feature. At the start of the race he could not find a hole to drop down to the preferred low line and 7 of 9 karts railroaded him before being able to drop down. After falling in line he was able to work through traffic and catch the leaders to take the third position. By the last lap only 1 kart length separated first to third. Kyle dropped down low coming out of turn 4 to make it 2 wide at the checkered flag but came up a few inches short and finished third for the night. Blackbird Racing also had Josh Wyse of Archbold Ohio running in the stock mediums and Jacob Layton also from Archbold running in the stock light class. Josh was able to finish 9th out of a 24 kart field. Jacob was able to take the win in the stock light class. Blackbird Racing would like to congratulate Jacob on his first win of 2007 racing season. |

Kyle had a rough night at the track Saturday. His pill draw put him starting 6th out of 7 in the B heat. On the start he came up to 4th then got hung up behind the 3rd place kart for about 4 laps before being able to make the pass. But he did end up finishing 3rd in the first heat. When he drove on the scales the stearing broke and that was the start of a bad nite of racing for Kyle. We spent most of the intermission fixing the kart instead of making the needed adjustments. All we were able to do is make a quick gear change and that was the wrong thing to do. In the 2nd heat he was starting outside pole[2nd]. He never even made it around to take the green flag. The motor mount never got tightened and it threw the chain. So he had his first DNF of the season. He was quite worried about the 10th place starting position for the feature. At the start of the feature race he had slower karts in front of him that he got tangled up with and dropped back to 12th. He made a good run up to 8th before the kart tightened up and was pushing on the exit of the corners and dropped back to 11th. He tried to make a last lap pass comming out of turn 4 he made it close at the line but was about 4 inches short and finished in 11th. He will be back next week to try again. |
